ONE OF THE 5,703 BMWs Z8 by Senner Tuning AG

The Z8 model manufactured by BMW between March 2000 and July 2003 is included in the number above. It also includes 555 Alpina version cars (450 of them were equipped with an automatic gearbox and were shipped to the USA). They feature a wider radiator grill and side air intakes which were created by Henrik Fisker – based on the 1955 BMW 507 – and have almost become a rarity, certainly better known to experts as the E52 internal type. Even the standard roadster featuring a 5.0 liter V8 engine from M5 (E39S) provides impressive 294 kW (= 400 hp) and max. torque of 500 Nm.
To overhaul this sports car (this time the car is available for order only in full optional) as delicately as possible and make its overall appearance elegantly understated, Benno Senner of SENNER Tuning AG, Ingelheim, with his crew implemented the best existing concepts. At the very start the engine was supplied with a sports air filter set. Then parameter adjustment followed, including the exhaust system balancing featuring a welded exhaust manifold with a stainless steel silencer and flame tubes designed with metal catalysts. This adds the total of 37 kW (50 hp) and 535 Nm torque. This dramatic increase enables to raise the maximal possible speed to over 300 km/h.
When picking the perfect wheel-tire combination, SENNER Tuning AG chose Work Schwert SC1 wheels in Diamond Black varnish with an anodized 9×19 and 10×19 inch chrome outer rims, and Continental Sport Contact 5P 255/40R19 and 285/35R19 tires. To compensate for the fact that RunFlat tires were mounted on non-emergency run-flat wheels, the tool kit was complemented with a tire-repair set and a compressor. A glance through the wheel provides a view of Racing Gold varnished brake calipers. And a few words on the chassis technology: In addition to the coilover suspension Variant 2 Inox-Line with an adjustable rebound, a strut bar was installed on the reinforced shock mount in the front in order to stabilize the front end.
This Ingelheim-performed conversion of the Z8 into an elegant black-colored piece of art costs € 18,900.00, but taking into account the total number of vehicles manufactured it should be seen rather as an additional increase in value.

BMW today delivered the first all-electric ActiveE in the US and began the next chapter in its electromobility strategy. Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO of BMW of North America presented the keys to a BMW ActiveE to Tom and Meredith Moloughney who will begin their two-year lease today. As one of the inaugural MINI E pioneers in 2009, today they officially became the first ActiveE Electronauts.
“Calling the Moloughneys Pioneers is very appropriate because they have shown the world that an electric vehicle can absolutely serve one’s daily driving needs without compromise,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO of BMW of North America. “We learned a lot from all of our experience with the MINI E and we are looking forward to learning more in these next two years with the BMW ActiveE as we prepare for the launch of the first BMW i models in 2013. The BMW Group’s electromobility development strategy began with the MINI E Field Trial in the summer of 2009. When the MINI E trial program began, one of the main open questions was, could a private individual live with an electric vehicle on a daily basis without changing their driving habits? The MINI E pioneers proved without a doubt that not only could it be done, but that doing so required no change in their daily routine, with the exception of plugging-in instead of stopping at the gas station. No one has proven the viability of an EV as daily transportation more conclusively than the Moloughneys, who logged over 72,500 miles in MINI E # 250 in just two-and-a-half years. That is as much driving as the typical American driver does in five years and they did it without burning so much as an ounce of gasoline.
The Moloughneys today became the first of what will be 700 BMW Electronaut households who will lease a BMW ActiveE for a two year period. Deliveries will continue over the next several weeks. As the MINI E provided valuable insight into life with an EV, the BMW ActiveE lease period will again be used to gather feedback that will be part of the development of the BMW i3 which will come to market in 2013.

With output of 170 hp and maximum torque of 184 lb-ft from a standstill, The BMW ActiveE accelerates from 0-60 mph in under nine seconds. The BMW ActiveE is the BMW Group’s next step towards an emission-free, mass-produced electric vehicle. Within the framework of project i, the BMW Group is carrying out research and development work on the development of electrically powered vehicles. The next step will be the BMW i3 due to launch in 2013. It will be designed to meet the demands of a sustainable mobility solution for congested urban areas. For this reason, the drive components and battery technology that will be used in the BMW i3 are being tested in the BMW ActiveE.
Ongoing field tests involving more than 600 MINI E cars, including 450 in the US, have already provided vital knowledge about the demands on future electrically powered production vehicles. Beginning with year in the US, Europe and China, a test fleet of over 1100 BMW ActiveE vehicles, produced at BMW’s Leipzig plant, will provide further valuable insights into the everyday use of the vehicle. The findings will serve to deepen the knowledge already gained on the everyday use of electric vehicles and to learn more about customer requirements. The feedback from customers testing the MINI E and the BMW ActiveE will be fed directly into series production of the BMW i3, which will be launched in 2013.

BMW model year update measures for March 2012
New edition models for the BMW 1 Series Coupé and BMW 1 Series Convertible, as well as new engines and an M Sports package for the new BMW 1 Series five-door model.

Agile handling properties, exclusive fittings and a powerful, distinctive design have made the BMW 1 Series the epitome of driving pleasure in the premium compact segment. These qualities are now spotlighted even more with new special editions of the sporty, elegant two-door BMW 1 Series Coupé and BMW 1 Series Convertible. The high-quality options have been carefully harmonised, with appealing touches added to both body design and the interior. In addition to exclusive exterior paint finishes and light alloy wheels, there are also special upholstery covers with matching interior strips which give the edition models a flair that is both exclusive and individual. The BMW M Sports package for the new BMW 1 Series further enhances the dynamic driving properties of this compact five-door model as well as translating them into a striking look.

Edition Exclusive for BMW 1 Series Coupé and BMW 1 Series Convertible.
The Edition Exclusive is an especially stylish version of the BMW 1 Series Coupé and the BMW 1 Series Convertible. Here the vehicle’s appearance is enhanced by means of window cavity covers and side frame strips in Chrome Line or the optional BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line. Another eye-catching feature is the range of light alloy wheels available in 16, 17 and 18-inch format (depending on engine type). The customer can opt for the exclusive body finish in Mineral Grey metallic or else one of five finishes drawn from the standard portfolio. A further dash of colour is provided by the exterior mirrors in Oxide Silver matt finish. Exhaust covers and longitudinal kidney grille bars in chrome (for all engine types) complete the package of body features.
Boston leather trim characterises the interior of the Edition Exclusive. The seats are finished either in Pearl Grey with grey contrast stitching or in black with white contrast stitching. The refined ambience is supplemented with door sill cover strips featuring BMW Edition lettering, interior strips in aluminium accentuation polish or in the optional fine wood finish Fineline Anthracite, an anthracite-coloured BMW Individual roof liner for the 1 Series Coupé and floor mats with welt in matching colour. The Edition Exclusive is rounded off with a new sports steering wheel featuring attractive chrome trim including multifunction and a handbrake handle with decor trim element in chrome.

The Edition Sport further boosts the athletic potential of the BMW 1 Series Coupé and the BMW 1 Series Convertible. In addition to the M Sports chassis, the equipment features for both interior and exterior help further intensify the dynamic driving experience. The athletic ambitions of vehicles featuring the M aerodynamic package are also given visual emphasis with the exclusive paint finish Carbon Black metallic as well as 17 and 18-inch M light alloy wheels in double spoke design. Intelligence breeds efficiency: The BMW ActiveHybrid 5.
BMW has developed its intelligent hybrid drive technology to the next level with a further ActiveHybri production model. Again, a petrol engine is combined with an electric motor to enhance both efficiency and the brand’s hallmark driving pleasure. The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is the company’s first model to combine a BMW TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder in-line engine, an electric motor and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The latest-generation BMW ActiveHybrid technology also adds precisely controlled – and therefore extremely efficient – energy management to the mix. All of which means that for a car in the premium executive class, the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 offers an exceptionally good balance between performance and fuel consumption. The drive system delivers combined power of 250 kW/340 hp, allows all-electric operation up to a speed of 60 km/h (37 mph), accelerates the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.9 seconds and limits average fuel consumption to between 6.4 and 7.0 litres per 100 km (44 – 40 mpg imp) and CO2 emissions to between 149 and 163 g/km (figures as per EU test cycle, may vary depending on tyre format).
The 225 kW/306 hp six-in-line engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology in the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is the same unit renowned for its fast-revving performance, torque and efficiency in the BMW 535i. The 40 kW/55 hp electric motor is powered by a lithium-ion high-voltage battery housed in the boot. The power from both drive units is transferred to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is a full hybrid, that is to say it can operate in all-electric mode, for zero-emission driving around town. At the same time it offers the sportiest performance in its class – but with a double-digit percentage improvement in fuel consumption over the BMW 535i.
To exploit the full potential of BMW ActiveHybrid technology, the power electronics incorporate intelligent energy management, with a host of innovative functions designed to ensure efficient powertrain operation. During braking and on overrun, the high-voltage battery is charged by the electric motor, which acts as a generator. When the vehicle is accelerating, on the other hand, the electric motor provides a boost function, supplementing the petrol engine to provide dynamic performance which adds noticeably to the sedan’s sporty driving experience. In ECO PRO mode, it is possible to switch the petrol engine off on overrun and disconnect it from the drive shaft, at any speed up to 160 km/h (100 mph). This coasting mode combines smoothness and comfort with optimal utilisation of the vehicle’s kinetic energy. To prevent wasteful idling when the vehicle is stopped at intersections or in stationary traffic, the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is equipped with a hybrid start-stop function. Plus, the power electronics are linked up to the BMW ActiveHybrid 5’s standard-fitted Professional navigation system. This allows them to anticipate changing driving conditions and therefore to ensure that the powertrain always operates at maximum efficiency (effectiveness may vary depending on the quality of the navigation data).
All the hybrid-specific powertrain and energy management components were developed specially for the BMW ActiveHybrid 5. The result is an extremely well-integrated overall system which convincingly showcases the benefits of BMW ActiveHybrid technology out on the road. Needless to say, all the new hybrid components are designed to last the life of the vehicle.
The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 features the BMW 5 Series Sedan’s sporty and elegant body design but with various additional touches which draw attention to its special drive technology. Among the visible identifiers are the “ActiveHybrid 5″ inscription on the C-pillars, the BMW kidney grille with galvanised slats, matt chrome tailpipes and, optionally, 18-inch Streamline-design alloy wheels which offer excellent aerodynamic efficiency. Also, the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is the only model in the BMW 5 Series offered with Bluewater metallic exterior paintwork. Doorsill finishers with the “Active Hybrid 5″ insignia, an aluminium badge with the same ID on the centre console, a model-specific engine cover and the “ActiveHybrid Power Unit” inscription on the battery housing are further features that prevent confusion with any of the other model versions.
The ActiveHybrid 5 comes with the same choice of interior colours, seat upholstery and interior trim as the other BMW 5 Series Sedan versions. Additional standard-fitted luxury features include the Professional navigation system, 4-zone automatic climate control and stationary air conditioning.

Touring costs 2000 Euros each. The fact that only 150 units built, makes the car a unique appearance will continue.

BMW Frankfurt Motor Show 2011

For the first time, an original BMW range of accessories will be presented for the new BMW 1 Series at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA), accompanying the world premiere of the brand’s new entry level model. The newly developed range for the interior includes a variety of products the design of which perfectly adapts to the character of the BMW Lines, available for the first time for the new BMW 1 Series. The BMW Sport Line and the BMW Urban Line provide customers with new ways to distinctively personalise their vehicles. The BMW Lines are available as an alternative to the basic equipment fitted to the new BMW 1 Series. With their exclusive equipment and design features, they ensure a targeted emphasis on the sportingly dynamic yet progressively modern character of the BMW 1 Series.

The original BMW range of accessories is complemented by a new bicycle rack, which is fitted quickly and easily to the coupling ball of the tow bar. It fits all BMW series and is distinguished both by its ease of use as well as by its characteristic BMW design. The bicycle rack, along with the new products for the BMW 1 Series and all existing merchandise in the Original BMW Accessory range fully meet the outstanding BMW quality and safety standards, which far exceed legal requirements. Stylish and a perfect fit: mats for the interior and the luggage compartment.

Tailored floor mats are available in two versions, both for the front foot wells as well as for the rear of the new BMW 1 Series. The three-dimensionally profiled, all-weather floor mats feature a surface structure modelled on natural water channels. For the first time, textile floor mats are available in velour, combined with a durable thermoplastic used for backing, tread areas and edges. The most important common feature of both types of mat is that the colour of the edging can be chosen to suit the specific features of each particular vehicle. Red is the colour of the BMW Sport Line, light grey the BMW Urban Line and anthracite is standard equipment.

The floor mat designed for the BMW 1 Series luggage compartment is styled after the all-weather floor mats with edging available in two different colours. Textile pockets positioned on the sides provide additional storage room. In addition, a luggage compartment tray with a hinged lid and colour-contrasting folding hinges is available. The closed lid then becomes, in effect, the flat floor to the luggage compartment.

For sports and travel: a new selection of model-specific bags.

The ski and snowboard bag for the new BMW 1 Series makes transporting winter sports equipment easy, clean and comfortable. It can accommodate up to four pairs of skis or three snowboards and is safely secured to the vehicle’s lashing rings in the luggage compartment by means of straps. Thanks to its handy integrated wheels, it is also deal for transporting skis and snowboards outside of the vehicle. A newly designed ski boot and helmet bag rounds off the range. Both bags are made from washable material and are accented in either red or grey.

A distinctive combination of colours and materials also distinguishes the storage bag designed for the rear seat bench of the new BMW 1 Series. It has a waterproof floor, additional storage compartments on both the outside and the inside as well as two integrated cup holders mounted on the top. Seat organizers, which are also available in two colour versions, are secured to the headrest bars on the front seats. This model-specific range is rounded off by a combined CD and spectacles bag, accented in red or grey, as well as by a key case with either a red, grey or black tone.

New bicycle racks available for all BMWs with a tow bar.
The new bicycle rack, compatible with all BMW models, is remarkable for its reduced weight, optimised design and exceptional ease of use. The rack, which is mounted on the ball of the tow bar, is designed to carry two bicycles. An easy to use tilt feature provides access to the luggage compartment.

The new bicycle rack can be mounted onto the end of the tow bar using just one hand. Both the solidly constructed wheel anchoring points and the clamping system to secure the bicycle frame are adjustable over a wide range. The wheels are secured with a ratchet arrangement. A lock system minimises the risk of theft of the rack itself and of the bicycles. Optionally, an extension kit is available so that a third bicycle can be transported.

Even more opportunities for focused, sports-oriented individualisation are now available with the additional items in the BMW Performance and BMW M Performance product ranges. For the first time, BMW M Performance products are now available for the BMW 1 Series M Coupe, the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M. Furthermore, a BMW Performance concept car based on the new BMW 1 Series will be presented.

The Performance components for the power train, suspension, aerodynamics and cockpit are part of the Original BMW Accessories range. They comply with BMW standards in terms of design, quality and safety. Sales and installation are conducted by the BMW and the BMW M network of dealerships, BMW subsidiaries and BMW Service Partners.

Racing technology for the new BMW 1 Series.
BMW Performance products emphasize the dynamic appearance and sporty driving characteristics of the new BMW 1 Series. A first impression of the sporting potential is conveyed by the BMW Performance concept car based on the new BMW 1 Series. The equipment includes a BMW Performance aerodynamics package, a BMW Performance suspension and a new BMW Performance 18-inch brake system, which is characterised by reduced weight and high thermal resistance. In addition, specific design features for the exterior and the interior, 19-inch BMW Performance light alloy wheels and a BMW Performance steering wheel will be presented.

The concept for the BMW Performance range for the new BMW 1 Series was initially devised in close cooperation with the BMW M GmbH. This allowed the motor racing expertise concentrated within the BMW M GmbH to be incorporated directly into the technology and the design of these retrofit components.

BMW Performance power kit for the BMW 135i and the BMW 335i.
A BMW Performance power kit is now available for the sportiest models in the BMW 1 Series and BMW 3 Series. These aftermarket products have been specially designed for a member of the latest generation of inline six-cylinder engines powering the BMW 135i Coupe, the BMW 135i Convertible, the BMW 335i Sedan, the BMW 335i Touring, the BMW 335i Coupe and the BMW 335i Convertible.

The BMW Performance power kit includes a modified engine management system that increases the maximum output of this 3.0-litre unit by 15 kW/20 hp to 240 kW/326 hp. Maximum torque, which is already available at 1 500 rpm, is now 430 Nm for vehicles with a six-speed manual transmission or 450 Nm for vehicles fitted with a six-speed automatic transmission or seven-speed double-clutch sports automatic transmission. A second version of the BMW Performance power kit is available for customers who want to experience something special, powering their BMW around the racetrack. The increase in performance is complemented by an additional, specially-positioned aluminium radiator fitted with a particularly powerful fan.

New BMW M Performance products.
The intriguing character of BMW M cars is further emphasised by the BMW M Performance range of accessories. These complement those available for the BMW M3 and include new products for the power train, the suspension, aerodynamics and the cockpit and have now been extended to include other models. Wing mirror covers and a rear spoiler are available for the BMW 1 Series M Coupe. These accessories are manufactured from carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), handmade by BMW. In addition, an eye-catching BMW M Performance kidney-shaped radiator grille is available in a black, high-gloss finish.

The BMW M Performance range of accessories for the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M allow the driver’s own distinctive personality to shine through. For both models, 21-inch BMW M Performance light alloy wheels in double-spoke design, a BMW M Performance carbon front splitter and a front grille in black are now available. In addition to the BMW M Performance rear spoiler and the BMW M Performance tail fins in black, model-specific BMW M Performance side skirts underline the dynamic elegance of the BMW X6 M. Perfect control and an authentic racing feel are provided by the BMW M Performance steering wheel, which is available for the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M. It has an Alcantara cover and a rim that is designed with a flat section at the bottom. In addition, it sports three-colour M stitching and a centre marker at the top in racing blue.

The BMW M Performance range of accessories has now also been complemented by an attractive new innovation in the field of design. The BMW M Performance side stripes for the BMW 1Series M Coupe, the BMW M3 Coupe, the BMW M3 Convertible, the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M refine the distinctive appearance of the BMW M, adding an exclusive sporty accent to the vehicle.
