Smart fortwo Electric Drive

Smart just released their latest car – Smart fortwo Electric Drive. It is a plug-in electric version of the tiny ForTwo. Smart fortwo Electric Drive will use a 41hp electric motor driving the rear wheels even as the internal combustion version does.
In an unusual alternative for this diminutive machine, they’ve chosen to use a sodium-nickel-chloride (Zebra) battery. Although these batteries have good capacity and are very stable, they operate at very high temperatures (250°C).
